HuMa in the National Social Forestry Festival (PeSoNa)

HuMa Indonesia Association participated in the National Social Forestry Festival (PeSoNa) organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry on 27–28 November 2019. PeSoNa is a routine event aimed at facilitating the dissemination of information about Social Forestry, including both timber and non-timber forest products, communities, and knowledge of local wisdom-based cultures, presented at the event led by the Directorate General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership (PSKL).

In its participation to enliven the PeSoNa Festival, HuMa utilized this platform as a means to disseminate knowledge, culture, and local wisdom. HuMa presented several short films and publications at a 3x3m2 booth. On this occasion, HuMa also promoted experiences, HuMa’s work programs, and knowledge possessed by indigenous communities, specifically regarding the potential of social forestry they have, especially customary forests.

Currently, the accompanied customary forests, together with the Indigenous Forest Coalition, have shown many results that can be demonstrated to the wider audience. Standing out, the unique HuMa booth attracted many visitors. In fact, many forestry students, KLHK employees, and some visitors outside the scope of KLHK were present and curious about what was displayed at the HuMa booth.

“The presence of the distinctive HuMa booth is quite intriguing, providing a different perspective. Because the majority of displays are product-oriented, while HuMa is the only booth promoting local knowledge and the potential of the customary forest areas they accompany. It is very interesting and can inspire TelusuRI friends to explore customary forests throughout the archipelago,” said Yovita, Manager Director of TelusuRI, one of the visitors at the PeSoNa Festival.
