Harvesting Problems Arise After the Land Bank Appears

JAKARTA – Residents of Pombewe Village, Sigi Biromaru District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, have to swallow disappointment. Their hope to immediately receive land ownership certificates (SHM) has to be postponed. Even though previously the local government had designated the former land of PT Hasfarm Horticulture’s land concession (HGU) in Sulawesi as communal agricultural land for the people there. However, by the end of 2023, the Land Bank Agency came, installed boundary markers, and claimed the land as a state asset.

Ningsi, a member of the Village Consultative Body, said that the land had been cultivated by residents and was planned to be the subject of agrarian reform (TORA). “Therefore, we reject the presence of boundary markers from the Land Bank,” he said after a dialog on agrarian reform in Palu, Thursday, January 25, 2024.
