Initially, the Ba’tan indigenous community lived peacefully in their own village. The community, which identifies itself as the Ba’tan Indigenous People, has been living in the village for generations in three villages, one of which is Battang Barat Village, Wara Barat District, Palopo City. The other two villages are Padang Lambe Village and Battang Village, which are adjacent.

Battang Barat consists of three neighborhood units (RW) namely the lower zone RW 1 / Paredean located at km 16 – 26, the middle zone RW 2 / Tanete located at km 27 – 29, the upper zone RW 3 / Puncak located at km 30 – 38. According to Samri, a staff member of Battang Barat Village, the majority of the population is Muslim. The number of households reaches 247 families or + 966 individuals.
