Nanggung Farmers Reject Extension of PT Hevindo’s Land Use Right

Jakarta, Aktual.co — Farmers from Nanggung, Bogor Regency, along with an alliance of community-based organizations, reject the extension of the land use right (HGU) Number: 29/HGU/DA/88 for the 1200-hectare land of PT Hevea Indonesia (PT Hevindo) located in Nanggung Village, Cisarua Village, and Curugbitung Village, Nanggung District, Bogor Regency, West Java.

The Coordinator of the People’s Organization Strengthening Division of the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA), Kent Yusriansyah, stated that the farmers’ rejection of PT Hevindo’s HGU extension is due to the company’s failure to cultivate the land properly. This has even led to land conflicts culminating on April 17, 2013, between tenant farmers and PT Hevea Indonesia.
